Hands on Furniture Finishing with Chuck Bender

Get over your fear of finishing! Learn the techniques that will make your work stand out!

Description

Do you have a pile of projects sitting in your shop that are complete except for the finish?  Or are you stuck in the rut of making pieces that deserve a great finish, but you revert to rubbing on a bit of oil and calling it done because it feels safe and comfortable? It’s time to kick up your skills in this hands on Furniture Finishing week with Chuck Bender.

This is not just a week of “what is the best finish for cherry? Or “what is the recipe for tiger maple?” This is a week of developing the understanding of what effects the various products out there will give you so you can apply what is in your minds eye to the project. Dyes, pigment stains, bleach- even chemical coloring techniques will be covered.

Bring along one of your smaller projects that is in need of finishing and we’ll work together to bring out all the beauty you’ve built in. Everything from surface prep to finishing the finish is covered in this five day class.

Some of the skills learned in the Finishing Week class are:

  • Surface prep – the foundation of a good finish
  • Confident coloring – no more patchwork projects
  • Popping the figure
  • Get that silky smooth top coat with a hand-rubbed finish

You are welcome to bring one small project to class for finishing, or you are welcome to work on the sample boards provided in class. Sign up today! Class is limited to 8 students. Learn from one of the top furniture makers around! Chuck Bender has made more furniture than most people have even seen!

Tuition: $995.00 Plus materials ($45.00 plus tax)
