Introduction to Cabinetmaking I with George Vondriska

Working with plywood & solid stock- great for projects around the home!

Description

The skills mastered in this class will help you make shop or kitchen cabinets, vanities, bookcases and more.  Each student will make a face frame style wall cabinet that includes a frame and panel door.  As part of this you’ll learn cabinetmaking standards that you can apply to your projects.

The cabinet carcase includes dadoes, rabbets and adjustable shelf holes. Pocket holes are used for the face frame, and the door is made using cope and stick joinery on the router table.

We’ll use cabinet grade plywood for the cabinet case, and you’ll learn effective ways to break large sheets down into manageable sizes. Our solid wood starts as random width and random length sticks, and you’ll learn how to accurately turn this into project parts. This includes using a jointer, planer and table saw.

Students taking this class should be comfortable in a shop environment. We’ll address tool safety and use with each tool we used. You don’t need to be an accomplished woodworker to take this class but you should be comfortable running power tools.

George is a fan of transferring measurement whenever possible instead of measuring and marking. You’ll learn how to use gauge blocks along with a number of tricks that help you use a tape measure as little as possible.

Be sure to sign up early! This is a great class you do not want to miss. Class is limited to 8 students.

Tuition: $475.00 plus materials ($45.00 plus tax)
